Casual Call-In Dietary Aide

REPORTS TO: Support Services Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dietary Aide prepares and serves food to the residents in our facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Food Handler Training Certificate (CK Public Health Unit) or equivalent.
- Past experience in a kitchen an asset.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be fluent in English ( verbal and written)
- Must be able to read, understand and follow instruction including but not limited to job descriptions & procedures, SDS information, chemical dilution instructions and use
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must conduct themselves in a courteous manner at all times and have excellent customer service skills
- Must be organized and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills evidenced by ability to work well with fellow staff in all departments, ability to communicate and identify problems with proposed solutions to managers and co-workers.
JOB DUTIES:
- Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
- Observes time limits for meal serving.
- Pour tea and coffee.
- Sweep and mop the kitchen floor.
- Assists Cooks to clean and prepare such uncooked food as salads, vegetables and fruits. Follows basic instructions in preparing such simple foods as breakfast items, basic desserts and garnishes.
- Clear plates and trays, load and operates dishwasher.
- Cleans pots pans and cooking utensils as per procedures.
- Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food including leftovers.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Cooperates with other departments to meet resident’s needs.
- Take out garbage’s and recycling.
- Wipe off all carts and sanitize.
- Performs duties as needed in the department to facilitate the dietary operations.
- Ensures work areas are maintained in a clean, orderly and safe manner. Ensures proper care and use of equipment, tools and supplies are maintained.
SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:
Each member of staff must have a:
- A vulnerable sector Police Background Check
- Negative 2 step TB test
